BLOG POST UPDATE 28 Sept. 2015 I FOUND A DISTURBED FILIPINO. (The only problem is he doesn't know he is disturbed... clinically that is.)
UP Manila history professor Alvin Campomanes said in his introduction to educators before the advance special screening of Jerolld Tarog’s film HENERAL LUNA,
“If you’re not moved by Heneral Luna, something’s wrong with you…
You should be disturbed!”
Campomanes together with Artikulo Uno Productions Marketing Head Francisse Garcia Frias and Sucesos Walking Tours COO Ana Romana and Rossellyn Domingo welcomed the 5th batch of educators to watch HENERAL LUNA for free last August 26 at the Little Theater, College of Arts & Science, University of the Philippines, Manila. Romana said that there is a next one on September 1.
The producers have stepped up their promotions for the movie and the education sector have responded warmly enough:
The professor explained that he gives his endorsement of the movie as an educator and not as part of the marketing team of Artikulo Uno. He sees the potential of the movie in opening the traditional minds and hearts of most Filipinos.
HENERAL LUNA OPENS SEPTEMBER 9 NATIONWIDE
The movie is an independent production of Artikulo Uno and the producers seek the support of everyone,
specially teachers, school administrators, student organizations, parent-teacher associations to make the movie stay exhibited in the cinema theaters:
“we are asking for your support
(the first two-three days are crucial).”
If you want to watch it as a class, we do recommend organizing block screenings.
HENERAL LUNA is set during the Philippine-American war, Heneral Luna follows the life of one of Philippine History’s most brilliant military men, General Antonio Luna, as he tries to lead his countrymen against colonial masters new and old, and to rise above their own raging disputes to fulfill the promise of the Philippine Revolution.
