Students Joining This Workshop Gets Perfect Score for Linguistic Intelligence PROJECT.

Message specially addressed to

  • ADPRAC4-3AD-4,
  • ADPRAC4-3AD-6
  • NS102-3AD-6
  • NS102-3AD-7

Feel free to choose any theme you wish to develop. I suggest however, that you write in the science fiction genre both for tackling the themes of either Advertising or Natural Science. For students who are enrolled in both of my classes, you submit only one entry (as the workshop rules say) but get perfect score for the assessment of linguistic intelligence in both subjects in my class.

For those not joining: You are required to write a short story or poem and publish it in our mutual blogsite. Those not joining the contest are limited to the themes on science and advertising. The deadline for posting is the same deadline indicated in the competition guidelines. Not included in the guidelines, but since you are artists, you are required to add a visual component…

Blogosphere

blogosphere

Ever heard the phrase “knowledge is power” (knowledge itself is power) by a philosopher named Francis Bacon? It may sound cheesy but have you consider it to be true?

Another saying between man and power is that:

The sciences, are small power; because not eminent; and therefore, not acknowledged in any man; nor are at all, but in a few, and in them, but of a few things. For science is of that nature, as none can understand it to be, but such as in a good measure have attained it.

By: Thomas Hobbes (English Philosopher)

Through this we could conclude that man, with enough knowledge, could be capable of doing more things compared to a man with less of it but then, how could a man collect vigorous amount of knowledge if he is not aware of it?

Studying could be one solution for gathering knowledge but we MIGHT only hinder a man’s progress of discovering NEW things if we limit him into published textbooks and old teaching habits that have been overused for centuries without a single change.

Then how should a man gather his knowledge to have that awesome power making him to do things no other man can without stopping his progress of understanding things?

The Blogosphere appears!

Blogging is one of the most practical, convenient, and most used form of information sharing of the 21st century. The Blogosphere, the world of blogs and the highway of information, that each information co-exist with each other, which flows through the lifeline of the World Wide Web, is used by almost all people to write, share, give their insights, opinions, studies, concepts and ideas to be read and understand by other people using it.

Imagine a man knowing all what other people know and use it to form a new idea that no one has ever come by before, now that is power.

If man only fully appreciate the concept of the blogosphere and acknowledge it as a potential resource material and use it for generating new ideas in the various aspect of multiple intelligence known and unknown, only then will man know the meaning of “Knowledge is Power”

The Components of MI

The Components of MI (from http://multipleintelligencesoasis.org/about/the-components-of-mi/#box-7)

For something to qualify as an intelligence, it has to satisfy Howard Gardner’s eight “signs” of intelligence. After extensive research, Gardner identified eight, distinct intelligences. These are what comprise his theory of Multiple Intelligences:

Spatial

The ability to conceptualize and manipulate large-scale spatial arrays (e.g. airplane pilot, sailor), or more local forms of space (e.g. architect, chess player).

Bodily-Kinesthetic

The ability to use one’s whole body, or parts of the body (like the hands or the mouth), to solve problems or create products (e.g. dancer).

Musical

Sensitivity to rhythm, pitch, meter, tone, melody and timbre. May entail the ability to sing, play musical instruments, and/or compose music (e.g. musical conductor).

Linguistic

Sensitivity to the meaning of words, the order among words, and the sound, rhythms, inflections, and meter of words (e.g. poet). (Sometimes called language intelligence.)

Logical-mathematical

The capacity to conceptualize the logical relations among actions or symbols (e.g. mathematicians, scientists). Famed psychologist Jean Piaget believed he was studying the range of intelligences, but he was actually studying logical-mathematical intelligence.

Interpersonal

The ability to interact effectively with others. Sensitivity to others’ moods, feelings, temperaments and motivations (e.g. negotiator). (Sometimes called social intelligence.)

Intrapersonal

Sensitivity to one’s own feelings, goals, and anxieties, and the capacity to plan and act in light of one’s own traits. Intrapersonal intelligence is not particular to specific careers; rather, it is a goal for every individual in a complex modern society, where one has to make consequential decisions for oneself. (Sometimes called self intelligence.)

Naturalistic

The ability to make consequential distinctions in the world of nature as, for example, between one plant and another, or one cloud formation and another (e.g. taxonomist). (Sometimes called nature intelligence.)
